Alright I feel like I need to rant about this topic that is sweeping the headlines currently. For those who have seen, or heard the news there is a new strain of the flu going on. It started out in pigs, and spread the people in Mexico. So far it has killed about 104 people last time I checked the news. There are cases here in the US as well although thankfully they have been mild. It has spread to California, Ohio, Kansas, New York, and Texas.
Now you are probably wondering "Well why is she worried if the cases have been mild?" I'm not really worried per say. I've survived a 106.2 (41.2) fever, and I went through Hurricane Ike in Houston, Texas. I handled those two things just fine, and I can handle this as well. As you have probably figured out I am from Texas, and I just happen to have been a couple of miles away from the school that was shut down because two students had the Swine Flu. When I found that out my reaction was this: ".......FREAKIN A!" (Note: I do actually say that in real life since I really do not curse unless someone pushes me over the edge anger wise. Also not all of us in Texas sound like Dr. Phil or Bush. >.<)
Now when I say my next statement I do not mean to offend anyone. I wish either the Mexican government, or US would close off the border. This thing needs to be contained, and quickly. A friend of mine told me that the Asian countries were screening people at the airports already. In fact I wish we would start doing that as well. So far though the US is just concentrating on closing public areas such as schools. I suppose they do not wish to cause a panic, but the media does not help when they use the word "pandemic."
I'm going to be extremely honest with everyone now. I have started to cough a bit though not that much, and my stomach feels a bit funny. However, the stomach part could just be the fact that I exercised a few hours ago. I am coughing though. I am honestly praying to the Goddess Isis that it is merely allergies, and nothing to be concerned about. (Note: I am pagan, and do actually worship the Goddess Isis as well as many other Egyptian Gods.) I really do not want to get sick, and I hope this flu does not get any worse by spreading to more countries. So there is my rant.
