Ah, the proclaimed “King of Games“—a short and scrawny figure, the prime prey of high school bullies, an utterly underwhelming boy by the standards of teen idolatry.
But before one disregards Yuugi, before continuing in his description, it is perhaps appropriate to propose a question.
How does a sunrise begin? Is it quick to act, quick to ascend and overtake the world? No, the sun is slow to act; it is a lumbering colossus which reveals its full splendor slowly but grandly. Gazing at that first mellow orange sliver which peeks over the horizon, who might guess at the true glory of the sun without the foreknowledge of days past? So might one study Yuugi in a similar fashion, for his innate jubilance—though radiant—conceals itself within every fold and crease of his form, displaying itself shyly through a variety of mediums. It can be seen in the contours of his youthful face as the scarlet flush of embarrassment; in the movement of his slim, nimble fingers as they part a pair of cards from their deck with ease; in the hopeful glimmer of his crimson irises.
